Twas the night before Election day and all throughout the Internet, people were trying to convince each other that their candidate was the best candidate. That is, of course, how it usually is during election season. But this year we have two candidates that the majority of voters could care less for.
As American citizens, we should vote for someone. Women and African Americans fought for many years to even be allowed to vote. So we should consider it a privilege to cast our ballot.
To make things a little easier if you are still undecided on who you are going to vote for, here are a few positive things about each candidate that should help you set aside all the negativity and decide that you feel is right.
Just for a moment, let’s all be Bella from Twilight. “From now on, I’m Switzerland, Ok?”
5 Good Things About Hillary Clinton
She Has Experience
When you hire someone for a job, you would prefer to hire someone who has had years of experience in the field instead of someone who has had very little or no experience whatsoever. After serving as the First Lady of the United States when Bill Clinton was President between the years of 1993 and 2001, she went on to be elected as the United States Senator for New York from 2001 to 2009 (the first female in the role). She then was appointed as the 67th United States Secretary of State for Barack Obama between January 2009 to February 2013.
Love her or hate her, you can’t deny the fact that she does know enough about the presidency and politics to get the job done.
She Would Be the First Female President
While it may be a gamble, it could be a refreshing change to have a female in charge for the next four years. Research has shown we all react different ways to people of different sexes, so she could possibly sway Congress to approve an important issue that a male may not be able to.
She Could Help with Various Child-related Issues
Clinton served on the boards of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Legal Services and the Children’s Defense fund, which could come into play during her time as president if she were to get elected. Any president that would truly put the needs of children first is worth a vote.
She Might Help Solve the Issue with Low-Income Workers
She also was the first female member on Wal-Mart’s board (yes that Wal-Mart). The retail giant is an Arkansas-based company that was a client of Rose Law where Hillary practiced law while she was the First Lady of Arkansas. Once she was on the board, she pushed successfully for Wal-Mart to adopt more environmentally friendly practices and attempted (but failed) to put more women in the company’s management team. Perhaps she could help Walmart employees (and people who work for similar companies) get the pay rates and benefits they deserve.
She Can Handle Personal Problems with Pride
We have all heard about the Lewinsky scandal so there’s no need to take up space with that (but, if there are any young voters who aren’t clear on the facts, Google is your friend!) Hillary stood by her man (Which some may see as a bad thing), and didn’t allow the issue to tear down her family. Which means that she could put on a good poker face if needed when speaking with the enemy.
5 Good Things About Donald Trump
He Wants to Change the World
His ideas may seem a bit extreme, but he also has a go-to attitude and seems to be the type of person who doesn’t stop until he gets what he wants. Many people are seeing this as a bad thing for America, but it could be a very positive thing. Having a president that will not take “No” for an answer could be exactly what we need.
He Has Experience as a Business Mogul
Where he lacks in political experience, Trump makes up for it in the corporate world. He could help to create many new jobs for people across the country and decrease the unemployment rate, which would be a very good thing.
He’s not what our enemies are expecting
It may seem crazy but, our enemies may get blindsided by us electing Trump in as President and may back off for a while. Yes I’m grasping at straws here but who knows?
He Says What’s On His Mind
And he doesn’t care if it’s politically correct or not which is exactly how many of us Americans are. He’s relatable in that sense and one of the main things he has going for him is that if he wants to do something, he may be crazy enough to actually do it.
Things Will Be Different
While there will be plenty of people angry and upset if Trump wins. We can all agree that we will have a brand new America once he is sworn in as President. He may not be able to accomplish everything he has on his mind, but there will be some changes made.
